Coast to Coast

It’s Labor Day Weekend, and the lackadaisical season we call Summer is now unofficially over. This weekend I put the finishing touches on yet another cover, this time an instrumental called Coast to Coast by The Scorpions, whose two guitarists – Rudolph Schenker and Matthias Jabs – influenced me greatly growing up. This song always [...]

New Secret Journey

My recording of Secret Journey by The Police has suffered from a couple of very annoying glitches since I first released it a couple of years ago – clicks and pops in the vocal tracks, and a poor bass performance. I’ve just updated it, with a new bass track and rerecorded vocals. I think the [...]

More Equipment For Sale

My 8-year old Mac G4 desktop, which forms the core of my home studio setup, has been dropping hints that it’s preparing to head up to the Great Computer Junkyard In The Sky any time now. So, I’m preparing to revamp my multitrack/MIDI recording equipment. Although the Mac is probably of little value to anyone, [...]

Music Page Revamped

In the interest of making my Music page a little more accessible, I’ve set up a Flash streaming music player, and put the music downloads on a separate page.

Yet More New Music!

This seems to be the season of completing old songs. I just put the finishing touches on a latin-style instrumental I wrote back in 2004. I named it Tonight I Can Write after a Neruda poem. It’s sort of a companion piece to Cancion de Donna; both songs were influenced by Incendio and by Chris [...]

New Song

Rolling off that fresh Spring energy with another new instrumental, Melek Taus. This one was tricky to mix – I seem to have selected sounds that occupy a lot of the same bandwidth, so I had to do some careful EQ’ing. Still a tad muddy, but I think I’ll leave it alone for now.

Spring is Here!

Spring is definitely here now. Funny, it seems like just a couple of weeks ago we were shoveling snow and watching the Winter Olympics…. With Spring comes new life, and new music. Right now, National Public Radio is previewing Jeff Beck’s new album, Emotion and Commotion,..in its entirety(!!!). How cool is that?

Roses

Dusted off this old thing I did six years ago. Never liked how it turned out (sloppy playing, weak composition), but there are some good ideas in there, sticking out of the mud so to speak.

Redo!

I rarely revisit songs I’ve recorded, but I’ve wanted to make some improvements to Hungry Ghosts for a while. Finally got around to it tonight, adding some funky clavinet to the mix, and tweaking the dynamics to make the overall sound a little more cohesive. Listen to the new version, available on the Music page.
